Our favorite toy manufacturer Plan Toys has traditionally manufactured their wooden toy range from
sustainable rubber-wood, sourced from retired rubber trees that are no
longer able to produce latex. PlanToys commitment to producing quality products using both sustainable manufacturing processes and
sustainable materials has lead to the development of their new PlanWood
product. PlanWood is made from surplus rubber wood sawdust that is generated in their factory daily, along with organic pigments for color and
less than 1% formaldehyde-free e-zero glue. This 99% wood, plastic
free mixture is then packed into pressure molders and submitted to high levels of
pressure (around 2 tonnes in fact), the end result is a high density fiber known
as PlanWood.
Aside from its obvious sustainable benefits, PlanWood is
extremely durable, water-resistant (even washable) and can be readily
molded into a fabulous array of shapes that can not be achieved when using solid hard-woods. And because the organic colour pigments can be added during the
composite process, the colours are considered more Eco-friendly than traditional
painting methods and will not chip or peel. You can view our full Plan Toys range, including some of their fabulous new PlanWood products
